Greetings! This is the Write Every Day Check-In Post for 18 November 02019.

Outside of writing, today was pretty boring, honestly. And that's a good thing, because not having a large amount of weird happening the day after convention is a good thing to happen.

In writing, on the other hand, I crafted and posted a fix-it work after getting caught up on Miraculous Ladybug canon this morning, because I had an adverse reaction to certain parts of how that canon went down. And then a wee troll-ling came along in their anonymous garb and proceeded to attempt to wow me with their insistence that canon completely foreshadowed the thing, it's the logical solution, and I was very clearly wrong to attempt to fix it.

Unsurprisingly, it didn't stick. So they got an explanation that they were in the wrong space for what they were saying and some suggestions about what they could do. They flounced, not particularly enjoying being condescended to and seen as a cute novelty. So yay, another thing on the Fic Writer's Achievement List, got trolled by a nonny.

I also did work on the backburnerned project and some of the new songfic, where someone is definitely getting kicked somewhere sensitive before the chapter is out.

Sometimes they do that, but it looks like some progress got accomplished all the same.

Day 18 -- 300ish words, including a formal, high-style letter, and a bit of channeling my annoyance while waiting in a waiting room that turned into background for Lamps/Hostages, though I haven't entirely figured out how it fits. Or who this person who popped up as a character interacting with Fingon actually is.

Yay for good background. Less good for having to write a formal letter to someone, because those usually mean things have been messed up pretty severely.

Ah trolls, they are everywhere aren't they? (of course I'm arguing with a friend over foreshadowing in another series where I say it isn't there and she disagrees but at least we KNOW each other)

I'll bet your discussion, though, is reasoned and willing, and doesn't just state "Well, I'm right" without providing any evidence or argument as to why. And you know each other, rather than being a drive-by trolling.

Yes exactly (besides she knows I'm always right :-P) But seriously yes it's a reasoned argument. I just had someone come into one of my prodigal son fics with the same sort of what are you doing? I'm like it's right there literally in canon, that's what I'm doing.

Mine is less "that's what happened in canon" as more "this is what could have happened had someone decided to go with characterization A instead of the one they did go with, which I find to be much more early-show can where we are now."

People more plugged into the fandom suggest that there's a split among the creative teams as to whether characterization A or characterization aleph is what they want to go with for this character, so the production is a see-saw between the two camps.

Ah yeah I can see how that would cause divisions in fandom (and heaven knows we sometimes don't play as nice as we should. The whole idea of live and let live doesn't enter fandom sometimes) I have not gotten into this one yet (a friend wants me to watch it though)

Yeah. But someone else's fic is probably the wrong place to pound your chest about how wrong they are.

I added over 800 words to the latest fest fic. It's going longer than I'd planned. (I'd planned 1K max. That is, uh, already in the rearview.). I'm interested to see where it's going to go.

I know full well works running longer than expected. The sort of thing where I turned 40+k out of what was supposed to be a simple premise. But those stories are sometimes really quite fun to put together and see where they go.

Absolutely the joys of Internet Fandom. Yay.

I think I'll count it. Though I did yesterday's writing technically today. Had one of those post-midnight ideas that suddenly wouldn't let me sleep, so I got up and hammered out about a thousand words and then crashed. :3

Sleep is a useful boundary between yesterday and today, regardless of what the clocks think.

I stayed up too late to manage put 117 words into my novel, but well, at least writing happened.
