Greetings! This is the Write Every Day Check-In Post for 19 November 02019.

Lots of things happening around where I am as people transition into new phases of their lives. And inform me about transitions in their lives they might have to make that are not nearly as helpful as they could be. This economy is great for people who already have more than they will ever need, is all I'm saying.

Writing-wise, I focused some on the songfic today, which is wrestling with me a little bit. I suspect it's because it wants to get done with this chapter already and move on to the next, but there's still some amount of lyric to get through before someone can deliver sweet justice and then let the plot kick off in the next chapter.

I'm also about to the point where I'm going to invoke Chandler's Law on the backburnered project, although, in this case, it won't be a person with a gun busting in so much as someone yelling "Look, a distraction!" and then bolting for safe distance so as to reset the mood of the space. It won't end well for them in the short-term, but it will help them achieve their long-term goal. Such is the way of things.

Yep. Although that's not for the songfic where I'm invoking Chandler, but for the one that indirectly references The Scarlet Letter in its title. I realize I should clarify that in the post.

It still ends badly, because someone who thought he was easy will instead find out he's not interested. She'll catch the next butterfly, and then the local hero will have to arrive and fix the problem.

Day 19: edited one scene of the draft for a net of 43 words. Also wrote 2,008 words on the WIP. Alas, I am unlikely to finish a draft tomorrow, not with 4.5 scenes to go, but it's coming along well, and I'm in good shape to finish by the end of this week, I think. My Yuletide fic is still percolating along in my head, so might as well get that further along than just a premise before I start committing to any words.

More too-late-in-the-evening writing on my novel, a bit over 100 words again. I had programme in the afternoon/early evening and was tired afterwards, which is why I got to writing quite late. I did read a bit of research material while I was resting, though. And when procrastinating, I played around with random prompt generators and ended up with lots of weird-yet-intriguing fanfic prompts for various fandoms. :-P

Maybe I should come up with a distraction, too. My characters are having entirely too few conflicts except for the general "what is this feeling in me?" stuff. That may be why I take ages to get the daily hundred words done... I don't think a gunman bursting in will really work in my setting, but maybe I can come up with something more appropriate.

On Day 19, I added 500+ words to the latest fest fic despite being sure I was too tired, grumpy, and unfocused. There's something to be said for the obligation of this challenge. There are nights when WED is the only reason I sit down to write, and that's a thing I'm grateful for.
