Greetings! This is the Write Every Day Check-In Post for 20 November 02019.

Holy fork, we're two-thirds of the way through the month already! For the NaNovelists, this seems like the point in time where the panic might start to set in. Especially if you're in the States, where the November holiday is coming up in eight days and there may not be quite as much time to do anything regarding writing with the preparation and the feasting.

Writing-wise, for today, I finished the first chapter of the songfic. As promised, someone gets kicked in a sensitive area. And in chapter two, we learn that the assumptions made up to this point are not actually true. That's good in some ways, although our protagonist won't be getting back what they've lost. That's also bad, however, because it means someone thought defeated is definitely not, and will soon reintroduce themselves to restore a reign of terror.

I also put up a new post in Grief-giving, because there's nothing like having a society that's supposed to work one way not actually work that way at all. Joy for everybody!

Summary:

Marinette doesn't talk about being in love in front of Adrien; Adrien doesn't talk about anyone he's interested in at all. And neither jokes much with the other: he's too worried she'll reject his friendship and she's too worried he'll reject her love. They certainly don't have in-jokes. And if they were dating, Alya would have heard from Marinette directly that she was about to ask.

…Why is Alya finding out any of this has changed through Mme. Bustier's class's group chat?

Sometimes you just need to switch gears and do something else to make it all work.

This is true. Original fiction requires all my though. Fan fic all the world building heavy lifting has been done. I can just go with the flow

Today I added 415 words to a badly neglected WIP. I seem to be all over the place with writing this month, but at least words are happening and I am pleased by the ones I made this evening.

Day 20: edited one section of the draft for a net of 80 words, and wrote 1,271 words on the WIP to finish up a couple scenes and sketch out the direction of a couple more.

I wrote 50 words of the novel, felt I didn't have any idea what to write in it, and gave in. Later I did a few pages of freewriting about writing the novel (and other writing-related things) so I'm counting that as having made my minimum 100 words a day for the novel. I am wondering if the novel just needs a break, though. While I have an easy-ish time doing character work on it, I feel like I don't know well enough what I'm really doing with it. I mean, I know the central emotional relationships and so on, but I seem to be a bit lost about the actual events that go with them, and I don't want to just have a bunch of floating heads talking and having feelings in a vacuum and pretty dresses.

Sorry for the vent, but yeah, the gist is that I did write on the 20th, even if I don't know what I'm doing!

Good for writing, and yeah, sometimes that sort of disconnection happens. Often times I can write through it by continuing to write until the missing bits reveal themselves and say hi, but that's mostly just trusting that I know what I'm doing.

It sounds like you had a very productive day!

I had one of those busy ones, when I wasn't going to be home much. Thankfully, it was also the day for student writers' club, so I did a writing exercise that came to almost 700 words. Yay!
