Greetings! This is the Write Every Day Check-In Post for 27 November 02019.

ysilme has a question for all y'all.

I'm currently pondering to buy the Campfire Pro software, as one of the NaNo winner goodies is an offer for 50% off. I'd like to ask if somebody of the WED participants has already made any experiences with it.

If you have some experience with this software, to know whether the offer is a good one or no, leave a comment, or if you know ysilme more directly, you could leave more direct feedback.

It's Feast Day Eve for me, which has resulted in a little of the last-minute shopping, and a lot of WTFery at various things that were not work-related, and it turns out that the most recent episode of Starship Therapise is talking about the holiday season and how holidays change from year to year, as things become less magical with time and more fraught with pesky realities like who isn't here to celebrate with you this year. Or who hasn't been there to celebrate with you for a long time due to distance (or boundary enforcement). It's a fraught place out there, and I hope everyone has the opportunity to do feasting and camaraderie with the people that you really want to be around, and that your exposure to the people who you have to be around is at a minimum. (And if you do have to be around your --ist family or friends, that you get to tweak them forever and a day by unabashedly being yourself around them without suffering a damn consequence for it.)

Writing today was devoted nearly exclusively to songfic #2. It took me a little while into the day to realize where the ending might be for the backburnered project, and I don't completely have an idea of how that's going to work out until I write it. (And then send the whole thing through a beta to make sure that I haven't caused major gaffes by writing it anachronically.) Songfic #2 is moving a little more slowly than #1 did, but it's not for lack of plot, it's more that I find myself with a lot more connective tissue to write that's lyrically appropriate before I get to the lines where I have been putting the plot beats I associated with the song. It might also be longer than songfic #1 when all is said and done, which is not bad, but will probably provide a boost to the 2020 word count statistics.

I wrote a LOT today. (Over a thousand words, which in the past wouldn't be much, but given current circumstances is a great deal.) I am chuffed.

Still on the thing I'm not supposed to be working on, but eh. Words are words. Somebody will enjoy them.

I regret that I have no feedback for ysilme as I've only vaguely heard of the software.

What I do have are 515 new words which are a bit rough but serve as a rough-in for an idea that hit me on the way home that might finally give me a way to turn the last third or so of the novel into something with coherent action that has a point and isn't all the hell over the place. I mean, if nothing else it makes the villain make a little bit more sense. Also added some notes about how this might or might not fit in with some of what's already written.

Words are words, and I'll bet they are entirely enjoyable for someone.

That sounds like something that is useful, even if it's still in the rough sequence and needs some additional work to be refined into novel-worthy material.

I got a little more than 200 words for Lamps today, and some little bits of thinking. I will get words tomorrow, somehow.

Day 27: 1,131 words on the WIP! No edits on the draft, alas, not enough time and/or focus for it today. I'm gonna have to squeeze in some writing in between pie baking tomorrow!

Nov 27: wrote. 1200 words or so, which makes it a complete draft, and sent it off to beta.

Oops, I forgot to check in yesterday, so here are two days' worth of check-ins:

Day 26: 126 words of novel, plus I sort of brainstormed on other writing things in form of handwritten lists.

Day 27: 136 words of novel, and then I took a look at one of the lists from the day before, and was struck by a story idea, and started writing. Not a lot yet, probably something like 60-70 words (handwritten and I didn't count), but it's a start!

I've no experience with that software, so can't help, sorry!

When I first learned that not all people celebrate Christmas and Easter as a kid, I seriously wondered how somebody would feel who's present at the ado going around (when I was small, Easter was also much more present everywhere), and how it would feel if these days are just regular days for you while all your friends are deeply involved or so. I know since I've friends and acquaintances from the U.S. and witness their Thanksgiving endeavours, and the Black Friday craze. It actually feels a bit like being an anthropologist, observing a foreign-to-you behaviour and being fascinated. LOL Good that you managed some writing despite everything, and I hope you're having a lovely time with the people you prefer!
For my tally, I've produced 781 words yesterday, mostly on world-building for the novel.

Day 27 was spent cooking. A lot. There is more cooking to be done yet today, but that's just throwing pre-made stuff in the oven, so it's not so bad.

On Day 27, I also wrote just under 500 words on a surprise (to me) little moment-in-the-life sort of thing for the same holiday fest I've been writing for already. That makes five. I don't know if I'm done (?), but I'm done for now.

Checking in for the 28th with 316 words plus a few magic system notes specific to the one POV character who can combine the two systems. I seem to get inspiration when walking from one place to another this week: walking up the stairs to work or walking across the bridge over the highway. Neither of these places are a good place to stop and write though!
