I sent off the last of my Graduate application stuff today, so now I can relax on that, unless I want to get beating on scholarship applications (which I should, since Grad school is expensive and I don't expect to get much in the way of assistance other than loans from the schools). However, papers and writings that are due, along with more readings, are the matters of importance at the moment, since they come due before the scholarship applications.

Now I cross my fingers and hope one of the schools will take me, right? Here's hoping.

From here, there's a lot of strange stuff that I saw today. Like movie studios sue Pixar because they're too good, virus writers charging for full functionality, that sort of thing.

I went back to the relaxation thing today (it's a Wednesday thing, so expect to see this fairly frequently). No head pulse this time around, at least not on me. Might have been a stress shift, then, or now that I know about it, I might have been preventing it from happening. Someone else in the group mentioned that her stress migrated up to her forehead during the relaxation, so maybe that's what it was. Of course, trying to do something like that while sick, or recovering from such, might be skewing the results. It was much tougher this time to get into a relaxed state, and I half-joked to the facilitator that now I knew what it felt like to struggle with imbalanced chi. I think the key to the whole relaxed or not state involves me being able to control my heart rate. While I was trying to relax this time around, my heart rate did not want to slow down at all, and while everything else seemed to be okay, the pounding of my heart made me feel like I was swaying slightly off of still every time it beat. Disconcerting. Of course, as I continued to work, I could occasionally feel my pulse in my right eardrum. Pulse through my fingers isn't bad, but the eardrum one was a little strange. Again, could just be that recovering from illness is making things work wonky. I might have slipped into a doze, even, in the later stages of the relaxation, but it wasn't either long enough or deep enough not to be awoken out of it by the voice of the facilitator. And it happened once my heart rate finally fell down far enough that I wasn't fighting it and I wasn't noticing it. So you might be right, [livejournal.com profile] rimspace, when you say I could be keying in on my blood flow as a means of gaining control over my body.

Anyway, that's all ramble. If you're interested in it, fine, if not, you should know by now that sometimes I talk about things nobody's interested in.

Hopefully these next two articles won't fall into that category. First, out of [livejournal.com profile] lordmork's trawling of CNN, we find out that cross-dressing days during homecoming are entryways into the homosexual culture, and must be stopped. Boo on the parent for a knee-jerk reaction and boo on the administration for caving into her asinine demand. Spirit Days are generally voluntary, as I recall. There's nobody forcing it on the kids. Perhaps this parent believes in the "gay agenda" and thinks this is some insidious tactic to make her children tolerant of homosexuals (Heaven forbid...). *sigh* Five cents, please, you blockhead.

That being said, out on Beliefnet, we find out five truths about liberals and conservatives that the other side overlooks. I agree that liberals and conservatives in the country don't get each other. I also believe that religious zealots have slowly been hijacking the Republican Party for their own use over time now, and that this misattribution is part of the reason for misunderstanding. Either way, go read the article, it's great.

I think I took the following Quizilla before. I don't know if I got the same result or not, but here it is:

Light
Your element is Light: Innocent, beautiful, kind-hearted and pure. You are so sweet you're almost angelic, you find joy in others' happiness and cannot stand to see anyone in pain. You want to make everyone around you feel good about themselves, and if someone is upset you can tend to become rather upset as well, which means you are sympathetic and raise others above yourself. Being as kind and good-natured as you are people have most likely hurt you in the past, but you pick yourself up every time. You may look fragile, but you are stronger than most tend to see. Life is beautiful no matter how you look at it, and you understand that people make mistakes and not everyone is perfect. You try to see the good in the bad, which is a talent few posses, so don’t ever let anyone change you. You truly have a beautiful soul inside and a heart of gold.

From sitting well on the Liberal side of the fence, it was good to read the 5 truths article. It is important to remember, sometimes, some of those things. I have a habit of shaking my metaphorical fist at "the conversatives" whoever they may be, and insulting them for their views. A person who's conservative is understandable because their beliefs are just as valid as anyone else, though i may not agree with them, but people who are conservatives are silly. I perhaps need to broaden my viewpoint slightly.

its really much easier to deal with individuals. A person, after all, is usually smart. But people are stupid.

And technically, no. But only because my schedule says i'm supposed to be at Karaoke, and that i was supposed to have finished this astro assignment roughly four hours ago.
