This subcultures class is definitely going to be interesting. Took the first quiz today, and although I'm very sure I didn't do A-level on it, I didn't bomb it. I may retake it anyway just so that I do better, knowing what to expect. At the same time, there is a lot of information - useful information - in this course, and it's already grinding gears at my own predicament of aimlessness. It may be true that I'm lost in my own Dark Night of the Soul - the imagery had particular resonance. Searching for the bedrock of consciousness, as the Beats did. In a funny way, glad that there have been people before me, and at the same time, a bit of wry humor about how "everything old is new again" and "all paths have already been explored". Will continue to learn a great deal from this course - which is what I was gunning for when I signed up. (It was the most interesting of the three-credit social science courses, yes, yes, but as with many of my other classes, it's also a good choice.)

Draft and a small paper due Friday, both in working condition, enough that they can be turned in. Here's hoping. I really need to have the band director send in the recommendation letter he was writing for me. It's due at the end of the month if I want financial aid consideration, and so I'll get on his case about it when I see him Sunday, or something.

Look upon this image and fear, for this is what selling your soul will do to you. Let that be a lesson to everyone.

Speaking of burning in hell...

Plus, you know how you're entitled to a trial by a jury of your peers? Well... whose peers are these people? The same type who build giant versions of X-ray goggles? (No idea if this is parody or not...) Or those who build squirrel decanters? Or are they the type of people who don't know how to operate an elevator? You decide. Maybe while watching the Crispin Glover video so that it all makes sense.

I always find it amusing that anyone can even say that all parths have been explored. Like the point of the koan yesterday: reality is subjective, we make our reality as much as our reality makes us, a path that is closed or meaningless to one person may be the path you have to take to reach your goal. Even if they are the same path with the same destination, that destination may be meaningless to someone simply because they do not have the context to understand it, it is quite likely that someone else will.

Either that, or I'm talking bollocks. Hard to tell sometimes.

Ah, I didn't read your entry that way - probably thanks to having just come out of a two hour meeting :/

But, yes.

Although on thing that is interesting to ponder is whether it is even the same elephant.
