I agree, it's a good answer to Pascal, but it'd take the rest of my life to do something like that - so I'll try and get one level above that, so that I look like I belong to whatever religion I need to get into heaven with. Who knows? Maybe the keys to the gate are garded by an atheist.

I agree. Or maybe there's no heaven at all. The problem with Pascal's Wager is that I'm not willing to bet my life on anything.

Shouldn't that be that you're not willing to bet your afterlife on it?

My understanding of Pascal's wager is that the cost for betting is one life, and the reward is eternal life if you win. It ocurrs to me that if you don't win you lose your life to a belief system. I think its fair to decide not to bet on Pascal's Wager because the cost is too great.

Put that way, Pascal's Wager has worse odds than the Roulette table. Definitely not a safe bet at all.
