...well, kind of. I probably should have done more job-searching today. Instead, I did laundry. (Which is useful, mind you) And I'll probably be home tomorrow for some part with the Fly-in Pancake Breakfast (if you're in the Napoleon area, go to't, it's cheap and really good.) and helping Mom celebrate a day dedicated to her tireless efforts to turn urchins like myself into respectable gentlemen. The jury's still out on whether she's succeeded or not.

As things are, today might have been my mental equivalent of Thor rolling and smoking a joint. This may not have been a bad thing, either. Although I may do better following an exhortation to enjoy something, I think it will do that the work will be put off for a little bit. And then there's the animation convention coming up - I should really enjoy myself there. Enjoyment seems to be the theme of the day, as I've also run across someone who's noticing the tendency toward making one's own logo and purchasing things that have an "Own Logo" on them. I saw some of this myself, actually - my grand-little sister through my Tau Beta Sigma cross-little hosted the occasional jewelry show for another local artist. The craftsmanship on the items was excellent. Perhaps a side effect of the craftsmanship is that one gets and expects a certain level of quality that mass-produced material does not aspire to nor contain. This may not be true in all areas, but I suspect there is at least a hint of it - or perhaps that one might get better customer service if something should go wrong with a crafted item.

I was also reminded by one of [livejournal.com profile] blacktigr's posts of the following Public Service Announcement: Please identify yourself to persons that you may be engaging in communication with, either by voice, by Instant Message, or by the post. This puts your recipient in a much better mood to engage in conversation with, and you will probably accomplish more during your time by doing so. This goes double if your recipient is anxious or absentminded. Thank you.

Yeah, that'll do for tonight. Although I'll also say that my artistic sight might be improving - I sketched some simple things today and was pleased (one of the reference pics from that tutorial link you sent me, BT) and I think I'm starting to understand how some of the lines come together in some of those simple pictures. More practice, of course, is needed. Maybe tomorrow when I get back I'll try and sketch out those other reference pictures in that lesson.

well, firstly i think your mom's done at least a decent job of crafting a fine young man (and i say that in the most heterosexual way possible, because it seemed a little odd when i typed it...)
secondly, i want to see al's illustration progress ^_^ i'm a trained artist too, ya know, and may be able to help out if you'd like even more input. bring some sketches to the trip!
