Good stuff happens today. All around good stuff. Beginning to settle into the atmosphere a bit more in the channel (and being able to properly glaze my eyes over when they start discussing politics and ship designs and other such things). Beginning to believe that they actually tolerate my presence there. (Well, okay, so they haven't thrown me out on my ear, even when I did make a bit of a gaffe in asking about Things Best Left Alone.) At least they didn't break out the Firepistons on me and burn me at the stake. I'll feel a bit more at ease as times go by - although I may still feel like a mage stuck in a channel full of dreadnought enthusiasts (Our Battleship Is This Big!) even as I am settled.

But enough of my insecurities. Instead, allow your perceptions to be bent by the tales of a the donut succubus. Speaking of things from Down Below, if you're ever confused about whether you follow a True Religion or a Cult, the uproariously funny people at the Landover Baptist Church have provided a handy guide to cults.

Out of MIT, we have... well, a catsup crapper. Must be another way of letting off the pressure up there. If it's not ITHFP, it's not MIT.

As it turns out, according to an experiment in science (SCIENCE!), well, okay, Scientific American, symbolic thinking is a learned behavior, and that it's actually a rather advanced form of thought. Of course, my symbols still mean different things to someone else, so no help there. But symbols are the way we do a lot of learning. I guess it's no wonder that the Earth-Minbari war happens.

Ah, yes, one last thing. While NBC was the nightly news of choice in my parent's household, it's still worth saluting Peter Jennings's passing. A Canadian with that kind of reputation makes his country (and ours, with his recently-obtained citizenship) proud. Should tell Williams about it.
