Disappearing-reappearing self.
Aug. 28th, 2005 10:36 pmSort of. Was a weekend. Got some stuff done. Did not get other stuff done. Will have to do something else. But found exactly what I want. This will be a good day.
Anyway, so there was some other stuff, too. From the "They've gotta have a degree from MIT" department, check out Sweeden's tallest skyscraper. The twist on that makes sure everyone gets an apartment with a view. Some other people might appreciate a similar twist of mind - Not Every Chaote is Insane. Although Sanity in Chaos is a good paradox to try and split your brain with.
It would appear that storm that went through Florida picked up steam and decided she wasn't done with the U.S. I really hope that the damage stays minimal and the casualties down. If you feel like directing the attention of your favored deity/servitor/being toward that area for protective measures, go for it.
This is the point where I often can contemplate the break between the ideas of the omnibenevolent Deity and the point that "Mother Nature is a B***h." Eventually, things resolve, but the benevolence aspect comes out of it considerably tarnished. Perhaps it's a bad sign that I read through an old fiction of mine (my - don't ever do that unless you want to be thoroughly embarrassed) - the name I had given to Demon Cat (Board personality) was Katrina. And somehow, I can't shake the idea that this is an apt comparison. Perhaps it's the Fortune Cookie Teller talent flaring up again.
So, for those in the path, I hope you get out safely and that the damage is not severe.
Remind me tomorrow, when I have more time than this, to set down some of the thoughts I have about the Fortune Cookie Teller idea. If I haven't already. And perhaps even if I have. The idea might have matured some. Also, I am v. amused by the debate on the e-mail list between growing beards and not shaving until defeat or shaving until defeat and then growing it out. Either way, we'll probably see something most interesting.
