I have it! I have it!
Nov. 30th, 2005 01:10 amSanta is God! If the U.S. Postal Service says so, then it must be true! (Or at least legally provable.)
Also, if you wish to see what experimentations with light boxes and rotating colors superimposed onto scenes that may or may not have anything at all to do with the text on screen, we suggest Rev. Beau Daschious's Enlightenments.
If you're not up for that, maybe then you can consider the idea of a device that measures a global consciousness. The idea of Gaia, possibly measurable by detecting fluctuations in Chance? Whatever it is, there are apparently measurers of fluctuations of chance over the world - they think it might be the world consciousness impressing itself on us all for a moment. They're looking for the Noosphere. Maybe they and the Long Now Foundation need to get together and trade notes.
Also in that strange and magical channel, #fleet, a discussion went underway that started as "What makes a FLEET person?" and wandered away a bit into the various merits and distinctions between various degrees of Science Fiction and Fantasy and other material - it was related to what a FLEETer is, because there's a strong SF bias in the group. Eventually, it dissolved into the admiration of someone's art. They're a strange bunch, that #fleet, you know?
And rather than waste more time dicking about (I did make it to page eight of the 8-10 page paper), I'm going to bed now... Only four more days or so to make decision on whether to re-up my paid time. And I still don't know who was it that gave me the initial bout.
