The real entry for tonight.
Jan. 4th, 2006 01:34 amHrm. Very interesting - I’ve almost got this Linux partition set up in such a way that it resembles my Windows one in most major functions. Was very easy to install, and I had a friend
getsource who helped me find the script that took everything from zero to hero power. And to the good people who maintained this particular distributions FAQs and other helpful objects - when I went looking for something, there was already a package there. Or someone pointed to a different package that I could easily get, a source or two to use. All very helpful. What I really need now is to figure out how someone with my zero-power programming skills can cobble together some sort of startup script if and when I need it so that I can return to my usual ability. The media player here is fantastic - I gave it eight files I wanted to hear, turned on the dynamic mode so that it would just add random files, and I haven’t had too many repeats, and the songs are all great. I raise some eyebrows at some of the transistions they’re making, but it does flow up and down the modds quite well, and with the expansive collection of material that I have, going through the playlist even once with no repeats would take a while.
Anime Sheet Music. Cool stuff, man. It’s a rapidly-expanding collection of intersting things. If you’ve ever had something like Tsukurimasho! stuck in your head and just need to play it, well, here you go.
File-sharing legalized in France. Neener, neener, I believe, is what they just said to you. Let’s see if this is a sustainable, workable model. Then we might be able to impress it upon them rather than the wasteful method of suing someone for more than their seventh generation will be worth.
Kermit Hands Day. And now, introducing our very special guest, You! YAAAAAAAY!
Checking Mosques for Radiation...showing once again that a group can indeed be tarred by the actions of a single bunch of loonies.
Christian Women and Sports. Choosing the most deliberately ugly pictures of sport just to make your case with. And that girls playing sport is somehow making the guys weaker and the girls stronger. Well, it might be that the guys seem weaker, because the girls can do what they do, and often better. We had an argument about ladylike behavior and sport and all those other things. For the moment, Title IX wins. So you’re entitled to think that all women who play sport are disgustingly mannish. We’ll be over here ogling the hot female athletes, if you don’t mind. Besides, Barbie Promotes Bisexuality, anyway, so you’re not getting anything out of that route.
It’s a character meme!
1. What is your Persona’s name? Aloren Orenishi, the Silver Adept, Magitech Division Chief.
2. What kind of character is it (furry, anime, etc) and any particular race? Humanoid character, but only distinguishing marks are the slightly pointed ears, belying what appears to be Elvish blood somewhere in the veins.
3. What is the first thing your character would think of when he/she first wakes up? What projects are supposed to be done that day. Alternately, breakfast/grooming.
4. Your character’s favorite outfit would be? Most likely a floor-length robe, sewn with protective sigils, but also concealing extremely flexible and quiet armor for when spells fizzle.
5. When your character looks into a mirror, what’s the first thing they would notice? The ears. Far too used to seeing them.
6. Does your character have the same tastes in food as you? Very. Although he can probably handle things that are spicier.
7. How is your character similar to you? He’s got a lot of parts of me in his original template. Some of them are still there, I’m sure.
8. How is he/she different? He’s a magic-user by trade, and while I read about other worlds, he lives in them.
9. If your character could speak, would they have the same voice as you? Probably not. A slight hint of something musical, probably would be pegged as a slight NZ accent.
10. If you were to suddenly become your character, what do you think would be the first thing you would do? Make safeguards in case it’s only a temporary thing.
11. Is there something about your character that you don’t like how others think of them? Well, it depends on how sane they think he is. The crazier they think he is, the less likely he’s going to be civil.
12. What advantages does your character have over you? The powers of magic at his fingertips - and a much more heroic disposition.
13. What disadvantages? The powers of magic at his fingertips - and having to deal with the other entities that like to intrude on his life.
14. Do you have any secrets relating to your character that only you know? A couple, probably. I haven’t actually written his entire backstory.
15. Do you have any secret drawings only you know about? Nope. Must have the art skills before that becomes true.
16. Do you have any plans for your character or are you working on something big relating to him? Something, yes. Whether it sees daylight, well...
17. What misconception(s), if any, do people have about your character? That he plans things out to go the way they do.
18. If you could have just ONE characteristic from your character, what would it be? Probably the magic. Even though that’s the most dangerous one.
19. Have you met any characters that go along with yours, based on real-life people, that have the same relationship with your character as you with the real-life person? Nope.
20. Have you written any stories about your character? Yes. Written, co-written, but published is another matter.
21. How has your character changed since his/her first creation? He’s become less me and more himself. That’s what happens when you let him sit around for a while and cook.
