Stuff, stuff, more stuff...
Jan. 25th, 2006 12:32 amOn page six of the report, woot and huzzah. Just need to finish that off tomorrow, do the other readings for Thursday, find an acceptable alternate article and write a one-page summary for it, make sufficient copies for the whole class, and them ake some sort of decision on Friday's assignment - possibly get around to doing next Tuesday's work, if I feel really inspired. But everything up to the Friday part's all got to be done by tomorrow. At least I don't have a class or something getting in the way of my work, heaven forbid. Or a job - that would be even worse.
10,000 clergy can't be wrong, can they? All of them have said that science and religion can co-exist nice and peacefully, thank you very much, and that to teach otherwise would be a shame on both science and religion.Shows that there are people whom Pat Robertson, G.W. Bush, and all of Faux News don't speak for, even if they claim to.
Potential interpretation of USA Patriot's extension might permit the Secret Services Uniformed Divison to make warrantless arrests for "crimes against the United States". They can do this on events assigned to be "special events of national significance", another potentially vague term. Meaning, it's quite possible that you can be arrested without a warrant for doing anything than a SSUD person thinks is illegal. Including being at a peaceful protest against the administration. Isn't that a nice thought? Especially coupled with the realization that even the NSA has no clue what the Fourth Amendment really is. To make things even more odd for the feds, perhaps you should help out
przxqgl and his National Child Pr0n and Al-Qaeda Day. If you're not comfortable doing it under your own name, there are several anonymizer services you can utilize (after all, the citizens of oppressive regimes have been using them, why can't you?) to make things even more strange.
If you're not so hot on the amounts of money being spent, or you'd like to make your own financial situation a little more healthy, there are a set of ten resolutions (categories) of things you can do to make yourself a little more fiscally solvent.
As
greyweirdo points out: This is what school shootings are born from. In an ethnicity class, even. Although, that does make for some interesting paralells between how the majority tends to treat minorities and the different in their societies. There's plenty of lesson material here, but it all centers on how everyone else was being a dick to the kid. For expressing a harmless preference (horses over metals)
Some potentially good news, though - rumors abound that the groundwork for impeachment may be being laid. That'll be nice. I don't know what sorts of precedents are in place for double ipmeachments, but it might be interesting to see if one pops up.
Lastly, but certainly not least, remember that This Friday is Lewis Carroll's birthday. Why is that significant? Rabbit Hole Day. (At least, I think it's Caroll's birthday.) Get your tales of Surreality up and ready to go for Friday.
