Saying Hello from work...
Aug. 2nd, 2004 10:18 am...since my machine at home is being finicky. Didn't like the move, or something. I'll whack at it a bit more after I get out of work and see if I can't make it get to my desktop (at the moment, it's not detecting anything in my IDE channels. Generally a bad sign.)
But all is not lost. I have a few things left to try. At worst, it might been that I get a new box to house the computer in.
Having been away for the weekend with little-to-zero internet access, I have some catching up to do, but it's mostly done by now.
Although, I'll give you something to chew on out of my on head. I was thinking (in church, no less!) about what is generally adopted as Commandment One from Yaweh to Moses - "I am the Lord, your God, you shall not have other gods before me." That's probably a paraphrase, but it gets the point across. Brain said, "That's not a claim of exclusive monotheism!" and I said, "How strange. Does this mean that one could Goddess-worship as well as worship this God so long as She didn't become more important than He? Does that mean that Jews and Christians, (and even perhaps Muslims, although I think they're a little bit stricter in the definition) have the potential for polytheism without problem?"
So what I really want to know is whether this is an error of translation or not. Someone who reads better Hebrew than I is very welcome to tell me that the translation's wrong. But I still want to know what everybody else thinks about this.
If you're not one for religious rambling, then perhaps I can interest you in Conversational Terrorism? Or The Ravings of a Madman?
Canadians are starting to catch on - The American media doesn't reflect the views of the American people. So that's why CBC usuall looks better in their newscasts.
No? Try this.
Of course, I have knowledge of the series, and can thus manipulate the results to a small degree, but I'm satisfied wth the results.
So that's the massive Post-Fu for today. Could be a couple days before another appears.
