Off to home because home is where the heart(less?) are. And because there's travel in your future (via tongue freezing to the back of a speeding bus).

The optimists of the past - all waiting for something that thankfully never came.

You know the "Every time you wank, God kills a kitten" thing? Well, now the kittens are armed and dangerous, and likely to take on the Heavenly host in their bloodthirsty quest for revenge! (I, for one, welcome our new fuzzy overlords.)

In a surprise upset, Ba'al wins the American Idol contest, defeating God in a runaway finals bout. Armageddon is likely to happen next, or at least a nasty bout of plagues and floods.

Make sure you read the Count Your Sheep for today - football makes the world go round. Even our guest librarians from Germany asked for a moment to check the footie scores. (Germany won 4-2.)

Anyway, that's the quickpost. Maybe more tonight, maybe not.

Optimist Inernational (http://www.optimist.org/), though the actual purpose of the club has nothing to do with the photo, as the club is an organization about improving the lives of children...anyway...

Look at the photo again. Everyone is in Gas Masks, and the sign behind the stage says "Why wait til 1955, we might not even be alive".

Get it? Optimist?

N) Not quite. The word 'optimist' contrasted with an apparently pessimistic point of view... that, yes. But, why gas masks? Why 1955? Was something important involving gas masks supposed to happen in 1955?

a few things happened in 1954: the start of the vietnam war, and the USSR started testing nuclear weapons.

N) ...odd. Why wait to start wearing gas masks all the time, because one might not be alive when it actually becomes necessary? People who actively enjoy wearing gas masks?
