So, so much to do and so little time. Helped a housemate celebrate 21 today. That's why this is so late. Also, got a nice compliment at work today - was told by a parent that she liked the way I told stories. That's a squee-worthy compliment, and it tells me that the audience liked things as well as the storytellers. Squee!

Tag. You're it, Ozy and Millie style. Also a fairly good demonstration of how my brain works.

61 years ago, the United States committed an unforgivable act by dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The echoes of that act are still felt in today's world, and will likely be felt for many years to come. What we should be remembering is that it's also the day James Cleveland "Jesse" Owens wins his fourth gold medal as the lead leg in the US's 4x400 relay. (Which, incidentally, probably infuriated Adolf Hitler.)

Yet another really good reason to leave AOL - it released significant quantities of user-specific search data. AOL has since realized what a colossal fuck-up it is and issued an apology for it, but the truth remains - while there's no personally identifiable data attached to the searcher, the searches themselves might produce some interesting connections and point out precisely who a particular user is. Someone might have all their vices, legal or otherwise, exposed by someone with the deductive ability to put two and two together.

The NSA is running out of power. Apparently, modern tech can't be supported by an aged infrastructure. Who knew? That said, SOS fully supports the suggestions that the NSA is making, as reported by this plusgood blogger. Remember, Freedom is Slavery.

Speaking of literary allusions, well, let's just say someone had a Dickens of a time finding out where Rumsfeld was optimistic about Iraq.

Please don't let the kids grow up to believe firmly in strange ideas. A refutation of some of the silliest ideas put to comic book form. And no, this isn't Jack Chick (although he can burn in a hell of his own making, too.) It's Pinkoski. Charles Darwin and your chainsaw of evolution, would you save us, please?

Thoughts on sex, it's "immorality", and why educating the populace will do more than banning homosexual marriage.

Otherwise religiously-related thoughts, Is Speaking in tongues really language? Something I found more interesting was that there are certain brain changes that happen to people who are tongue-speakers. Combine this with the research into mystic-experience mushrooms, and as I told [livejournal.com profile] thewayne, we could get all the religious experiences at a fraction of the cost of tithes.

Group sues the EPA over beach pollutions. The EPA missed a deadline to update its practices, and now someone's getting after them for not doing so and for leaving beaches in unhealthy states.

Followup news on the European masturbate-a-thon. The stamina of some of those people is, well, otherworldly.

Some official agitprop from 23AE. Although official agitprop sounds like a bit of a contradiction, doesn't it? Eh, it's all part of the mindfuck anyway.

Lastly, The World's Most Photorealistic Vector Art. This is what you can do given time, inclination, and a computer that can render it.

The sex "rant" was interesting. I tend to agree with quite a lot of what was said. Then again, I'm probably one of those "immoral people". I'm definitly of the "if both parties agree and understand what's going on, then who cares what they do" kind of thing. At the same time, I do admire people who are waiting for marriage to have sex. As much as I agree that it's important to find out your sexual compatability with someone before you're stuck with them for life, those people have made their descisions, and in some cases, "promises to God", and I wouldn't try to force my "sex is ok" belief on them. That's something those folk need to decide on their own.

The speaking in tounges thing has always disturbed me/confused me. The first time I was witness to it was in Junior High, I thikn. (or maybe my first year of HS). We were away at a youth retreat (we called it WinterCamp) and one of the girls from another church there just stood up and started speaking in this strange language as if she was possessed. We all were frightened, as Presbyterian's don't really believe in the speaking in tounges thing. Our youth pastor spent a good portion of that evening trying to explain what it was, and how some people believe it's possible. My other expereince has been through my associations with a Druid Grove. They're version of "speaking in tounges" was more of inviting the god/goddess into you to speak, and w a sn't quite so scary, and surprisingly they spoke English as opposed to Gaelic. I also love this quote out of the article, but I'm going to truncate it and twist it:
The same asymmetry was found in nuns and Buddhists, which supports the theory that either intensive prayer permanently alters the brain. HA. HA. HA. HA. Sorry, that's just really amusing to me.

Seven and a half hours of masturbation? Wow. That's kind of impressive. I was also intersted to learn that they had more men than women, which kind of supports that theory that many women believe they ought to not masturbate....though I kind of shuddered at the idea of a 70 yr old. I realize the idea wasn't to look at the other people masturbating (although maybe that's where that guy got his stamina from), but seeing a naked 70 yr old would probly kill my thoughts.

Might as well sue the EPA for not doing their job right, although I question the validity of doing so. Even thought the EPA exists to protect the environment, is'nt it also up to us, the common folk, to keep things clean and assist with cleaning them up?

Right, so i went to that pinkoski guy's website and poked around, and mostly laughed. He claims this guy, Ron Wyatt has discovered all these biblical places, such as the remains of Noah's Ark (http://www.pinkoski.com/files/index.php?id=11)....claiming to have found wood, and a metal frame. Uhm..right. Sorry, the whole website reads like a biblical tabloid. I can just picture little kids who read this crap begging their parents to take them to "JesusLand" on vacation, because when you're a kid in sunday school, these "stories" seem so much more believable.

Also, you are a great storyteller. I know the kids love listening to you when you tell stories.

You should have told me it was someone's birthday, I'd have made a cake for them. Ah, well.

[please remember that tomorrow is *my* birthday.] Yes, Ginny. We know that.
