Leaving tomorrow.

silveradeptYep, going to get in the vehicle and do a big driving thing down tomorrow. Will get in very late, so don't expect LJ entries from me until Thursday at the least.
Proving that ingenuity is always something in great supply, opening a Master Lock with a BART card. Doesn't that make you feel secure?
Taking a look at older covers and messages they may be intending to send, Battleship 1967 - where the boys play war and the girls do dishes. Speaking of playing war, it appears that the propaganda vehicle "America's Army" is doing its job, quite nicely.
Fox tried to prevent Clinton's smackdown from spreading. "Fair and Balanced", huh? You tried to paint Clinton as a do-nothing, and when he told you where to shove it, you want to get rid of the evidence? You sound like the government, Fox! Aren't you, as a news outlet, supposed to present the objective truth? If people haven't already dismissed you as having the Administration's hand up your collective asses, they should now. Also, GOP Aide busted for blog-bashing. Did it on government time and resources. Not good, not good. It's an election year. Which brings out the worst in everybody. This particular blogger thinks that come late October, we'll be bombing Iran, which would complete the trifecta of error. Considering Afghanistan is still a mess and it's reverting to its old self, starting a new war would be suicidal.
As part of their ventures to make education more available to all, colleges and universities are offering their courses on-line - although no degree credit is conferred for them. Here's a pretty good list of where you can find lots of free on-line courses for your own work. Many subjects, too.
Tesla statue unveiled in Canada. The inventor of the AC motor (among other things) receives some credit.
This is just cool - if it hasn't been linked before, it should have been. Mighty Optical Illusions. A blog of things meant to make you look twice (or more).
Speaking of trick to perform - a recipe for making salmon in your dishwasher. Additionally, a means of ensuring expensive equipment will be handled with care on flights.
And tomorrow, the boya goes several states away - I'll be back at some point Monday. You might get updates from me if I can snag a computer and some access. Otherwise, have fun...

Date: 2006-09-27 04:49 am (UTC)Breakin i nto a master lock is pretty scary, especially considering most schools and businesse sthat offer lockers to their employees assign master locks. Eeeek. I wonder if we'll hear about a rash of locker/bike thefts now?
Free 'net classes are pretty cool. I wonder if thought they wouldn't ever be able to be applied to a real degree, if they would be useful on a resume? Hmmm. An interesting thought, given all the HR courses offered for free...
I've heard of dishwasher salmon before. kind of a nifty idea. I especially like the "add lemon soap, it's ok you have the fish tightly wrapped in foil", because I think THAT's what would really freak out/impress your guests.
Anyway, like i said before, enjoy the trip. We will miss you.
