Football Saturday, and nowhere to go.
Sep. 1st, 2007 11:28 amThere's a game going on in Ann Arbor right now, and I have no idea where I could watch it. According to the limited tracker access that I have, even now, the team is getting their butts handed to them by the Division I-AA champions from last year. Could be a long year for the crew in Ann Arbor if this is the trend, rather than the exception. From my inside sources, the defence has a rather sieve-like mentality, and there's a mobile quarterback, two things that are University of Michigan problems through much of time. As usual, doing my daily Internet ration. Have also met my co-worker today, as she was back from vacation today. I think this is going to be an excellent job. Everything happens on Tuesday, as usual. I'll keep myself busy until then, of course. There's probably a lot to do here.
Just one link for today - Iraqi insurgents line their pockets with contractor gold. Which makes a certain amount of sense, considering the stability of the region at the moment.
Anyway, I do have things that will keep me occupied and meeting people today, and possibly keep me well-occupied for the rest of the weekend. That's the hope, anyway. Maybe on Monday, my thumb will be good enough to do a little bowling or something.

Date: 2007-09-01 06:59 pm (UTC)And the MSU game is on because of Auburn, not MSU.

Date: 2007-09-01 07:01 pm (UTC)Yeah, I suppose that makes sense, but even so. I thought all this stupid Big 10 Network stuff meant that all Big 10 games were going to it?

Date: 2007-09-02 09:33 pm (UTC)I get the concept, but I thought there was only one QB on the field at a time?

Date: 2007-09-02 10:00 pm (UTC)Have you heard any of the rumblings about the U-M game? some people are saying that if U-M doesn't win the rest of their games this season, they won't make it to any of the bowl games...I think tha'ts rubbish, because well, look at Penn State last season. We slurped for a while there, and we even lost two Big 10 games and still went to a bowl....or do you think those people are thinking that unless U-M goes to Rose bowl or the BCS game it doesn't count?
Oh, and I did find out from watching the news that FIU was an easy team to beat - apparently it was "effortless" on our part.

Date: 2007-09-03 04:20 am (UTC)For those of us who bleed Maize & Blue, it's National Championship or bust. Fuck the other bowls. It's nothing more than a way to hoek advertising (see Nokia Sugar Bowl, Tostitos Fiesta Bowl among many others.)

Date: 2007-09-05 04:25 am (UTC)As for the fans, it's not "fair-weathered." It's expectations. Michigan gets great prospective players, has great coaches and has a pedigree of winning when it mattered most & going all the way. I'll still watch U of M games & hope they do great for the rest of the season but the fact of them being beaten by a team that was in a lower division is just a slap in the face that'll sting for quite a while.

Date: 2007-09-05 04:30 am (UTC)Joe Pa is amazing. He's also really fun to talk to with that nice brooklyn accent :) Reminded me of my grandfather.
I heard from one of my friends who still goes to all the PSU games that there was a HUGE turnout for paternoville the night before the game this past weekend for him :)
