silveradeptOnly one more day to go before the new year kicks in. That’s definitely different. I think the retrospective on this past year will be much more event-filled than before. There’s a lot in the works for next year, as well, and so I’m hoping that the perpetual cheer “May this year be better than the last” works out for me.
The beginning of 2008 will also have primary elections for the next presidential campaigns. Adoplh L. Reed Junior lays out why he hasn't even been paying attention to the primary races, much less voting in them. Seems like pretty solid advice, as generally the main party candidates don’t appeal to me.
Internationally, Benazir Bhutto's son is the new titular head of the opposition party, but her husband will likely control most of the real power. Family dynasty ahead. That’s assuming the country calms down, as rage and suppressed emotions run high in Pakistan right now.
Lokywoky at The General implores every combat veteran not already signed up for benefits to do so before Jan 17, so that they can get appropriate care from VA hospitals for five years, rather than the two they’ll have after the 17th of January.

The methods and descriptions provided in the patent application shows that Microsoft has a lot of ideas on how to ensure that even their employees’ brains are working on company time all the time.
Forgiving others can be good for your health, according to a recent study by scientists from several universities. One of the named scientists in the study also was a founder for The Forgiveness Institute, which studies the effects that forgiveness has societally and physically, I guess.
In the arts department, a timeline of humanity from beginning to now. The winning idea and piece tonight, however, is Sleevefaces, where optical illusions are achieved by a model matching a pose started using a vinyl album cover sleeve.
