Greetings! This is the Write Every Day Check-in post for 17 August 02019.

I don't have anything super-helpful for the writing process today, which mostly is because I spent a lot of the day doing other things, like adulting and making various bandits and other digital ne'er-do-wells suffer from my almost-ability to run and shoot at the same time. And playing one of those evil match-3 games that start simple enough and then decide that they want your money more than they want you to have fun. But it's got characters in it with special abilities that make it less terrible, so I'll probably keep it around for a little while before I either get bored or frustrated with it and uninstall.

I did put some more words into giving grief, because oh goodness does this author really enjoy making women characters spout male-gaze lines about a particular character. It's cringe-worthy at this point, and we're not all that many chapters in. Blech.

There's also an archive opening tonight, so maybe I'll get those kudos and comments that I've been feeling a lack of lately.

Um. Some number of words? Where was I when I left off yesterday? Google Docs says the current version (for the convenience of beta readers not on my Dreamwidth access list) is nearly 600 words longer than the version it was at midnight. And I do think I solved the keeping my midpoint dramatic problem.

…still dunno why I'm having such trouble getting to, never mind through, the next crucial bit of intel. The thing I already told you re the theme of the trying-to-impress-him instances she names really should work! Why is it so much trouble to write?

Because it's not quite in character yet? There's probably a difference of communication style between the heroic character and the villainized one, even if it's subtle, and since she's also trying to misdirect someone who's listening in, finding the right bit of obscurity and consistency is hard?

Spent most of the day lazing around after waking up gloriously late, but did manage 323 words, which included finishing a scene and getting the bare bones ready of another.

350ish words on the bang, as well as some research. They are even coherent, useable words.

Tomorrow I am really hoping can be a focus on writing day.

I added more than 500 words to the character worksheet for my ambush project MC. It's stirring up some ideas about what I hope the third editing pass accomplishes, so that's good.
