First, to those who celebrate - Xin Nian Kwai Le (although that may not be a perfect rendering.) In the spirit of things, I did receive a red envelope today, and I hope that it will bring me luck and propsperity in the next year.

[livejournal.com profile] greyweirdo makes excellent chili. It is well worth the price of the gasoline just to eat the food he generously offers. And then the companionship from his friends and house members makes it even more worth it. They zip high-level jokes back and forth, and everyone keeps up and one-ups where they can. Political infuriations, religious insanities, the pseudo-feminism of Charmed and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, stories of coasters and cars, and all sorts of other things. It's a lot of fun to hang out with that crowd. Oh, and I've become the new keeper of THE BOX and its contents. A very generous gift, and most of those books, I will put to use in my personal library. Which means... [livejournal.com profile] uncle_pervy, I think I have some movies for you, if you want them. Either way, this is a good thing for me, making it a good day.

[livejournal.com profile] przxqgl gets a Democrat's response to an inquiry about impeachment and investigations (his inquiry, perhaps?). If this is the standard response, I'm asking for a no-confidence vote in the government. Dissolve, hold new elections for President, House, and Senate, try again.

Say what you like about this article. It's been painted as a judge acting on his own personal involvement and punishing these people too severely - also a testament to the stupidity of taking pictures of yourself engaging in illegal activities and posting them. Both parties are quite possibly at fault here - the judge's behavior does seem rather toolish, but flagrantly provoking him is probably not a good idea, either. Here's the article: Criminals? Or just having fun? Make your own decisions.

Hey, I'm all for getting some stuff. You could also consider it a belated birthday present. Let me know what they are and I'll check to see if I have them or want them. I'll probably want them anyways.

As for the older post pertaining to "The Sculpture of Pervy's Life-Mate" let me know how much it costs for the creator to make it and we can go from there to determine a proper recompense.

They all sound like Wu Xia films, definately would want them. Never can have enough good Wu Xia.

As for the sculpture, I'm taking that as $25? If so, that might be doable. Gonna have to check out my benefactor (aka my brother Daniel who has money) to see about this. As for colors, it's gotta be blue outside, pink on the inside. If it can be done for $25, then we'll have to determine the extent of payment pertaining to Services Rendered. Let me know if 40 sounds good for total price, or would we need to increase to include shipping.

I just looked up the movies on IMDB, and I'm hooked. I want them bad. *shivers at prospect of getting good Asian movies*

As for the false dichotomy of criminality vs "just having fun"... well, I'm not sure it can't be both. Criminality is not necessarily correlated with amorality; they're clearly "criminals" because they were convicted of a crime, but that doesn't mean that what they did was actually wrong.

The judge was clearly influenced by his (understandable) emotional reaction to having his judgement ignored. Now, while that's understandable, it isn't professional. Which is the issue, I suppose.

I think you're right on that point. He should have been replaced, but replaced by someone who would have haded down the same sentance. Those kids clearly needed a frying pan to the head.
