Quick stuff tonight, as I'm on my way out the door to get myself home for concerts and that.

Fearless Leader admits his rhetoric may have been a tad unspohisticated. But he claims to have been misinterpreted. Feels like a dodge to me.

A story of Marines committing murder? The investigation is ongoing, but excessive force appears to have been used. Question is, how many of these cases happened but aren't being reported or caught on television?

Told you it would be quick. But it's important. Tomorrow, we rock the house in suits for the concert. Maybe this time I'll get a decent picture of myself in a suit.

So the first major cracks in that "Never Back Down" persona appear. He sounded uncharacteristically deflated in the sound bites I heard, too.

I tend to disagree, though. At the time they were uttered, "Bring 'Em On" and "Dead Or Alive" were the right things to say to show courage and resolve--to show terrorists, Americans and the world that the U.S. would not simply capitulate after 11 September 2001. Then we invaded Iraq, and the foolishness commenced...but he shouldn't have had to take those statements back. They were appropriate for the situation, and I'm disappointed that he did.

But he said "Bring 'em On" when talking about the Iraqis. The problem there is that they did bring it on.

I would still support the "Dead or Alive" Sentament, but we seem to have all but forgotten about bin Laden.

Words are trivial. "Bring 'em on" was a very, very minor mistake. He only admitted to the 'token' mistake. :p

It's like pleading to public drunkenness when you drove blitzed and smashed into an ambulance. There are a lot bigger screwups that need to be admitted to.

Well, he won re-election by cheating. I think everyone knows that by now. I think it's an interesting "coincidence" that both times there was problems with voting was when he was running.

Rather interesting, isn't it? We start learning more about the systems that are supposed to work impartially and flawlessly (and potentially have) as soon as this one enters to the office because they weren't working flawlessly, and it looks like, not impartially, either.

It makes me wonder what else there is going on that we don't know about. OR how much control certain people have over things. I don't think i can survive having his brother in office, but you know darned well that somehow they will fenangle it so that he does win. And there will be an investigation by the democrats over it that will suddenly drop dead and have the dem candidate say "well, we have to go with what the results say"....I really think that had Gore won in 00, we wouldn't have nearly as many issues with Iraq, Al-Queda, etc. that we do now. Kerry wasn't as strong as a candidate as Gore, IMHO, but I think if Gore had won in 00, he might have gone for re-election and/or the Dem candidate would have been stronger in any case being backed by a Dem president.

The whole fiasco with what happened in 00 STILL makes me mad..and maybe that's me being a bitter democrat about the outcome, but when it was made increasingly obviuos that Gore was the actual winner but yet nothing was done?! Grrrr.

...and then there was more shenanigans with the second election. I'm surprised that with as many irrgularities as were reported, a national recount wasn't instituted.

John Kerry got convinced NOT to have that done. I might still have the emails or links located somewhere, but I was a member of his campaign staff locally and remember when that happened.

As much of a pain in the butt as the new electronic machines seem to be, there also seems to be little way to cheat on them.

Unless you tamper with them after the votes have been cast, which is quite possible according to some of the ssecurity audits that happened of the machines for the last election.

If you trust the people that made them and the people that transport and service them, then they are untamperable. If not or if any of them has a momentary lapse in security, the whole thing could be screwed over.

The sentiments behind the statements were an acceptable response to 11 September - resolve, determination, and a desire for justice. The statements themselves, however, sound more like someone inviting his enemies to do their worst, secure that they couldn't do it again, even though they just had.
